MAGNETIC ISLAND WASTE TRANSFER PROJECT

MAGNETIC ISLAND WASTE TRANSFER PROJECT

Keeping it Local

The Mendi Group are currently constructing the future waste management for Magnetic Island with the Townsville City Council.

The overall project includes a widening section of West Point Road, reconfiguring the intersection of Hurt and Yule streets, a gatehouse, a 450sq metre building that houses the drop off facility, resource recovery and buy-back areas, a green waste collection area, security fencing, car parking and vehicle access points.

The transfer station is expected to be completed and opened for operation late this year and will be used in the future transportation of waste to the mainland once the Picnic Bay landfill is full.

The Mendi Group aims to support local businesses in assisting in the completion of the Magnetic Island Waste Transfer Project – Thanks to Riverside Marine Group for providing us with this fantastic image of transportation of our equipment and materials to the Magnetic Island Waste Transfer Project.
